Kara subtenanto,
La lasta jaro estis eventoplena, ne nur por ESF! Plej diversaj evoluoj tra la mondo signalis, ke nova generacio de homoj ne pretas resti en la senelirejoj konstruitaj en la lastaj jardekoj. Tiu generacio ankoraŭ ne plene difinis siajn celojn nek siajn rimedojn. Ni povas jam memfide diri, tamen, ke lingvo neŭtrale homa perfekte enkadriĝas en tiuj streboj al pli justa kaj harmonia tutmonda socio.
Kiel vi scias, ESF laboras, per siaj modestaj rimedoj, por pliklarigi kaj pliproksimigi tiun vizion de diverseco, justeco, kaj interkompreniĝo. Tre malmultaj asocioj kaj fondaĵoj aktivas tutmonde pri lingvaj temoj. Verdire ankaŭ ni estas surprizitaj, kiom da intereso kaj subteno rikoltis niaj diversaj iniciatoj en la lastaj jaroj. Ĉi-jare Lernu.net trapasis la sojlon de 100.000 registritaj uzantoj; Edukado.net – nun festanta sian dekjariĝon – reatingis la nivelon de du mil kunlaborantoj; kaj la dokumenta filmo The Universal Language, realigita, interalie, per subvencio (kaj konsiloj) de ESF, ekturneis en kinofestivaloj tra la mondo. Ni estas fieraj, ke per tiaj projektoj – elektitaj el multaj – ni sukcesas pozitive influi la publikan bildon pri Esperanto, kaj ĝian lernadon kaj uzadon, ne nur en Norda Ameriko, sed ankaŭ en dekoj kaj dekoj da landoj tutmonde.
Sed ni ne estas kontentaj. Ni vidas en lernu! kaj la aliaj retaj projektoj la embrion de novspeca esperantlingva komunumo, pli oportuna kaj multflanka ol la ĝisnunaj retejoj. Tra la unuaj naŭ monatoj de 2011, ni kunlaboris kun la aktivuloj de E@I por ellabori planon por tia komunumo. Nun komenciĝis la preparoj. Restas ankoraŭ plena jaro de ŝvita teama laboro, sed ni fidas ke tio malfermos novajn perspektivojn por la laboro de ESF tutmonde, kaj por la progresigo de la Esperantista idearo.
Restu kun ni! Via subteno estas ege grava por nia laboro. Se vi povas, konsideru la eblecon fari monatan kontribuon al la kaso de ESF (http://esperantic.org/eo/donacoj/rete). Aŭ faru unufoja(j)n kontribuo(j)n al la kampanjo de E@I, "100.000 eŭroj por ESF" (http://kampanjo.ikso.net/). Diskonigu nian laboron inter viaj amikoj. Aliĝu al la retaj projektoj kaj utiligu ilin por viaj celoj. Ju pli ni agas kune, des pli nia agado pezos en la evoluo de la monda socio.

Eventful year for ESF
Dear Supporter,
The last year was an eventful one, not only for Esperantic Studies Foundation! Many and varied developments around the world demonstrated that a new generation is not willing to remain stuck in the dead ends of recent decades. This generation has not yet fully defined its goals or strategies. We can state with confidence, nevertheless, that a neutral common language is perfectly adapted to these efforts to establish a more just and harmonious global society.
As you know, ESF is deploying its modest resources to help clarify this vision of diversity, justice and mutual understanding and to bring it closer to reality. Very few associations and foundations are active on language issues at a global level. To tell the truth, even we have been surprised at the level of interest and support our various initiatives have attracted in recent years. This year, Lernu.net surpassed the threshold of 100,000 registered users; Edukado.net – now celebrating its 10th anniversary – reattained the level of 2000 active collaborators; and the documentary film The Universal Language, which ESF supported with a significant grant (and advice), has begun touring film festivals worldwide. We are proud that through these projects – to name just a few – we are succeeding in positively influencing the public image of Esperanto, along with its learning and use not only in North America, but in dozens and dozens of countries around the world.
But we are not satisfied. We view lernu! and the other internet projects as constituting the embryo of a new type of Esperanto speaking community, one that could offer many more possibilities and forms of interaction than any existing model. In the first nine months of 2011, we worked closely with the activists of E@I to plan what such a community might look like. Now the preparations have started. Even with another whole year of hard teamwork ahead of us, we strongly believe that this project will open up new perspectives for ESF’s work around the world, and for promotion of the ideas and values associated with Esperanto.
